Kindle Fire HD - GREAT device!

Oct 22, 2015 by Maggie

I thought that a Kindle was just for reading and downloading books, but was pleasantly surprised when I was asked to review the Kindle Fire HD 7. It actually acts as a tablet through which I can access Amazon's films, books, music and more. I reviewed the 7” one, but I believe that there are larger versions too. The design and feel of the Kindle was nice- I liked the grippy matte back, and the smooth feel of the glass screen on the front. The display was sharp and made reading my online books simple and a pleasurable experience. The sound was good and I thought that the speakers let out a really good quality emission, considering the size of the device. It was incredibly simple to use, with a pleasing 'swipe' left or right to choose the book or music you want. One negative which I feel I must mention was the fact that downloading an App seemed to take a really long time- I wondered if i'd done something wrong at first because it seemed to take so long that I thought it had crashed! However, that aside, the Kindle Fire HD was really good and I am delighted that I can keep it- I hope to increase my reading list now as I have no excuse!

Good quality inexpensive tablet.

I read up on the Kindle Fire HD before receiving it to product test, and read one or two bad reviews from people expecting a stellar iPad experience. Well, for the pricepoint one can't really expect an iPad-quality experience and should instead look forward to an easy-to-use simple affair with the Kindle Fire HD. I was drawn to it because of the ease of downloading from Amazon, and although it doesn't have 3G there are lots of wifi hotspots nearby so that isnt a problem. If you want an iPad then you should spend out the dollar for an iPad! But if you want a good quality cheap tablet that does what it says on the tin, go buy a Kindle Fire. Very happy with it, thank you!

Impressive little vacuum

Oct 17, 2015 by Jennifer

This superb little cleaner whipped around my floors (and worktops - toast crumbs begone!) in no time. I was suitably impressed with the ease-of-use, as well as with the quiet motor. I only get to clean and tidy when my newborn is asleep, so this was a good thing! I thought that the turning was easy and the suction good. As far as vacuums go this one was really ace - I was very impressed with the DC50. I couldn’t believe I got to keep it too!

Great idea!

I really enjoyed my sampling of the OPI colour paints nail lacquer. It's such a good idea! Firstly you layer the nail with the silver base shade, before applying a layer of your chosen colour paint over the top. The silver base coat acts to illuminate the chosen top coat, and it really makes the colour pop! You can mix and blend the colours (like a paint palette), and this lead to some creative nail paint application, with mixed results! My favourite had to be the Magenta Muse- it was a really nice red which looked awesome over the silver. The application was smooth and I will definitely be buying this one in the future. In contrast however, I found that the pigmentation of the 'Purple Perspective' nail lacquer to be patchy and needed two layers- however on the second layer the paint bubbled and looked awful. This was only a minor quip though- the rest of the range was wonderful and I would definitely use again.

O.P.I can never do a bad thing!

There's a reason that many professional salons use OPI. I truly love these nail polishes; from the smooth coverage to the great rainbow of colours, OPI is where it is at to make my nails pretty and fun. Both toes and fingers benefited from this trial; I used the silver base first and then layered on 'Chromatic Orange'. There were heavy red undertones to the shade, which was a little less zesty than I would have liked. However, I only needed one coat in the end which was just fabulous. I felt fabulous! My nails were fabulous! The colour was fabulous! Especially with my tan, this nail polish really popped and brought fun to my toes. I won't use another brand- not when OPI gets it right time and time again for me. Thanks for the trial!?

Works great in the professional world of cleaning

Oct 12, 2015 by Sonia

I'm an office cleaner and have always used a professional industry standard vacuum so was a little dubious to try the Dyson as I’d heard so many conflicting reviews about it. However i'm pleased to report that it was everything I’d hoped for in a vacuum. Powerful, easy to manoeuvre and tidy to store away. It's a little smaller than I’m used to so will have to empty the cylinder more often than my old cleaner, but that is just one issue which wouldn't worry me too much.

Overpriced.

I know it was a 'free' review trip (and i'm grateful), but I still think that Centre Parcs is overpriced for what it is and a bit of a 'Disneyfication' of a family holiday in the UK. Personally speaking I would much rather find a spot in the forest to camp with my family and enjoy the REAL great outdoors. With rivers, moors, beaches and hills making up the fabric of this great nation, I'm sure that you can go and find your own amazingly stunning spot to holiday, without having to have everything served up to you on a sterile plate like at Centre Parcs. That said, it provided light entertainment for my 3 children and they said that they enjoyed themselves heartily. Just don't take them into the swimming pool changing rooms without help- I have never had to change three children on my own before, and it was quite a mission I won't be repeating in a hurry.

If you want a new vacuum then look no further!!

I have just trialled the DC50 and I LOVE it. It is so well designed, with all the tools to hand, easy to empty dust chamber and the manoeuvrability is incredible. It's lighter than my old upright and very easy to carry and store. However the best part is the cleaning performance - it's outstanding, on both my carpets and laminate floors. I go easily from one to the other with no fuss. I can definitely recommend this little beauty.

Average vacuum with a lot of hype

Oct 01, 2015 by Mo

As vacuums go this one was OK. There's a lot of hype surrounding the Dyson DC50 and this new model didn't quite live up to previous models' performance for me personally. It was kind of ugly and robotic looking- I prefer a sleek minimalist look to fit in with my interior style. However that said, it was fun trying out a new vacuum and I’ll certainly make use of it in future. Thanks Previ!

GREAT stay at Centre Parcs!

Sep 28, 2015 by Mary-Clare and Trevor

We opened the door to our accommodation excitedly and smiled with delight! It was modern and tastefully decorated, and the wine cooler and dishwasher in the kitchen were a particular highlight! My daughters each had an en suite and TV (they loved this), and the master bedroom had a Jacuzzi bath in the en suite (great for once the children have gone to bed!). We hired bikes and, although a little pricey, we definitely made the most of them over the weekend and cycled everywhere. My wife and youngest son decided to try the Segway Experience and enjoyed it, but to be honest the health and safety training took so long that it didn't actually feel that the 'Experience' itself was that long, and so perhaps not worth the money. I went to the spa and tried a facial, pedicure and lime and ginger body scrub- delicious!! Highly recommended and I was walking on air afterwards. A section of the swimming pool was closed for the weekend but this didn't affect the slides so we all still enjoyed them. All in all a lovely weekend which felt like we really bonded as a family, and actually enjoyed some quality time together laughing and talking and taking a much needed break from the day-to-day routine of normal life. We can't wait to go back!
